At a meeting on September 22, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a Resolution “On approval of an Action plan for the development of the technical regulation system for the period until 2025”.
The Government’s decision is aimed at creating conditions to produce competitive domestic products and ensuring their competitiveness in the European and world markets with instruments of technical regulation, overcoming technical barriers to trade between Ukraine and the EU, increasing the volume of exports of Ukrainian goods to these markets as a result of the recognition of the technical regulation system Ukraine on European and international level.
“This is a very important document, the implementation of which will allow fulfilling the obligations determined by the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in terms of technical regulation and adapting the latest changes in the EU sectoral legislation into domestic legislation, as well as obtaining simplified conditions for the access of domestic industrial products to the EU market,” – noted the First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Volodymyr Gryniuk.
The adoption and implementation of the Resolution is a prerequisite for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA Agreement, “industrial visa free regime”).
The main directions for the implementation of the Action plan are:
- adoption of technical regulations and standards for construction products, vehicles, medical products, household appliances, eco-design, cosmetic and food products, etc .;
- improvement of legislation in the field of state market control of non-food products;
- development of a standard base for national metrology;
- improvement of procedures and practices of national standardization, considering the guidelines of international and European organizations.
